Meet Tamara

A neighbor, an advocate, and a proven leader for our schools.

For nearly 20 years, Springfield has been my home. My husband and I are raising our two children here, both proud Fairfax County Public Schools students. We chose this community because we believe in public education as a cornerstone of opportunity, equity, and a strong democracy โ€” and I remain deeply committed to ensuring our schools work for every child.

My commitment to children and families has shaped both my volunteer service and my professional career. I currently serve as president of my local PTA and have been a Girl Scout troop leader, youth basketball coach, leader in the Springfield Youth Collective, and a consistent advocate for families navigating FCPS. These experiences have reinforced my belief that every student deserves access to a high-quality education, and that strong schools are built through partnership, transparency, and trust.

“Lasting solutions are built through collaboration, accountability, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get the job done.”

As a nonprofit executive, I have spent my career bringing people together to solve challenges and strengthen communities. I helped military families facing food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic, served on disaster response operations with the American Red Cross, and worked with communities to advance healthier environmental outcomes.

I am running for the Fairfax County School Board because Springfield deserves a leader who will advocate for fully funded schools, equitable opportunities, and policies centered on students and families. I bring nearly two decades of lived experience in this community, a proven record of service and leadership, and a commitment to listening first and leading with integrity.

I believe Fairfax County Public Schools should be a national model for excellence and equity. By investing in neighborhood schools, supporting educators, and addressing opportunity gaps, we can ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.
